1) An Investigation into Global Public Policy Networks (GPPNs) (The term originally used to refer to Global Action Networks)

  1. The project began with development of a framework for understanding GPPNs and the challenges that they face through review of relevant literature.
  2. GPPNs' were identified, mapped and explored in four "problem domains": climate change, food security, sustainable development, and trade. Four GPPNs were identified for further investigation.
  3. Case studies were developed on four GPPNs and three are available: The Global Reporting Initiative, The Climate Action Network, and The International Federation for Alternative Trade.
  4. A Case Conference was held with representatives from the cases, advisory group members, the research team and a few other special guests. The conference reviewed and refined the case studies, supported the comparative analysis and the development of Phase II.
  5. A Comparative Analysis of the case studies focusing upon the concept of effectiveness and GPPNs has been completed as a draft. It is available for review: Global Public Policy Networks: Contested spaces where the human spirit can triumph.
