GAN-Net sponsors workshops on key issues that GAN leaders are facing, such as governance, measures, funding, and others. The workshops are structured as peer-to-peer learning events. Participants address the topic-measurement, for example-by exploring it together in the context of a particular case, which is presented by a GAN leader. Participants share their experiences, test out ideas, and meet others facing similar challenges. These events take place via teleconference and a web-based e-conferencing facility.
You are invited to join us for upcoming workshops. To get access to audio, visual, and text records of past events, contact us at info@gan-net.net.

Governance and Structure
Given the diverse stakeholders, what structures and processes will create an effective GAN? Who is included in strategic and operational decisions and how are they made? What are implications of the concept of "brand"? How can local and global be connected effectively? How do governance structures evolve as the organization and its strategy evolve-particularly as the strategic importance and power of local networks increase?
Measuring Impact
How should GANs measure success? What kind of data is most compelling to sponsors and stakeholders, and what are methods for gathering, interpreting, and reporting?
Funding
What funding strategies should a GAN pursue? What are the pros and cons and best practices? How can GANs work together to increase access to appropriate donors? How might business, foundation and government funding work together? How can a global funding strategy be evolved, given most funders are geographically constrained? What are sources of "earned income"?
Communications and Technology
How can GANs use the latest technologies and communications strategies to support learning and connecting activities on a global scale? What technologies are appropriate in what situations? How can new technologies be introduced? How do we communicate across language difference?
Peer-to-Peer Learning Strategies
How can GANs promote learning and coordination among their participants distributed worldwide? How to design conferences, workshops, visits, projects, online resources, and other mechanisms that engage participants and get results?
Collective GAN initiatives
GANs work on a range of issues - economic, environmental, social - in the context of a common group of developing countries. How can GANs combine efforts to increase visibility and influence, reduce costs, and strengthen local civil society organizations - towards better and more sustainable results?
In March 2006 eight GANs met in Guatemala and planned three types of collective activities. More
2005 Annual Meeting
In 2005 representatives from 20 GANs gathered for two and a half days to share lessons and set priorities.
